Where is Liege?

Liege stands at the crossroads of Europe. It is the metropolis of the Meuse-Rhine "Euregio" which includes the Liege, Aachen and Maastricht areas. Only 30 kms from the Netherlands and 45 kms from Germany, it lies at the very centre of a seven branch-network of motorways on the TGV route London-Brussels-Berlin. Situated 100 km southeast of Brussels, at the gate of the Ardennes region, Liege is a large Walloon metropolis and the third largest city in Belgium.There are 200.000 inhabitants, 620.000 in the urban areas, including the suburbs.

Public Transports:

An extensive public transport network covers the whole city. From the station Liege Guillemins regular departure of buses to the city centre (routes 1, 4, 25, 27 and 48).

Travellers arrive at Brussels National Airport located at about 12 km from the city of Brussels.

The fastest and easiest way into city centre from the airport is the Airport City Express train which leaves from the basement of the terminal building four times an hour between 6:00 am and midnight. The train stops at the city's three main stations (North, Central and South). Liege is connected to Brussels (from North station) in one hour by several trains every hours. Car rental returns: there is a specical car park for returning rented cars near the Departure area. Follow the signs upon arriving at the airport. The procedure for returning a rented car takes about 10 minutes.


Numerous international high speed trains (TGV) regularly connect Liege to major European cities.
Eurostar trains operate between London and Brussels. Connection to Liege-Guillemins from Brussels South.
Thalys from Paris, Köln, Amsterdam : several trains per hour to Liege or via Brussels South (Midi).
Liege is also directly connected to the Frankfort Airport with ICE trains (InterCityExpress). Journey lasts around 2:30 hours.


Liège is directly linked to the European motorway network through several motorways: from Brussels (E40), from Paris (E42), from Antwerp (E313), from Aachen (E40) or from Maastricht (E25).
